Human Resources Generalist
The Human Resources Generalist uses his/her professional experience and know-how to support the overall strategic initiatives of the manufacturing site and the effective execution of the daily administrative processes, which enable the plant to operate at peak performance. Staffing, On-Boarding, Training and Development and Positive Employee Relations.
Key Performance Areas
Talent Management
- Provides full cycle recruiting support both for regular and contingency workforce. Assess potential applicant skills sets against the needs of the business. Schedules and participates in interviews. Participates and facilitates the candidate selection process. Coordinates new hire on boarding process. Maintains database to track recruitment process.
- Coordinates special programs and events for employees. Responsible for employee trainings
Performance Management
- Monitor wage and hour rules, ensuring uniformity of compensation protocols and compliance with federal, state and local laws
- Champion people initiatives – collaborate with Committee on employee recognition awards/events to increase engagement and boost retention
Collaborate with Safety team on workers compensation, health and wellness initiatives
Compliance
- Provides Human Resources guidance and support to Operations and employees. Advises employees and management on the interpretation of policies, programs and procedures. May propose improvement to policies, programs, and procedures to improve the effectiveness and delivery of HR programs and services. Responsible for the day-to-day administrative functions and project support and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Work closely with management and employees to provide guidance regarding policies, procedures, state, and federal regulatory compliance requirements
- Maintain employee files ensuring documents and manuals are kept current, accurate, confidential and in compliance with company policies and government regulations
- Participates in employee safety, welfare, wellness and health. Act as a change agent in the safety culture with active participation in the safety committee, safety walkthrough and safety programs.
- Maintains numerous Human Resources files and databases.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, business administration or a related field; certification in Human Resources preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of progressive human resources experience, preferably in manufacturing, production, or a related industry. Demonstrated knowledge of employment law, regulations, and statutes, safety, and training
- Extensive working knowledge of California and Federal labor law, wage & hour, FLSA, EEO, FMLA and workers compensation
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRM systems
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to consolidate data into concise, executive-ready presentations and reports
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure; ability to prioritize and organize effectively; ability to show judgment and initiative
- Demonstrated ability confidentiality, professionalism, and decorum
