About the Job
The Human Resource Generalist will assist with a wide range of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance with labor laws, and maintaining employee records. The generalist will act as a primary point of contact for employees on HR matters while partnering with managers to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leave, and ADA; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety and New Hire Orientation, annual posters.
- Reconciles benefits and generates monthly deduction reports.
- Maintains accurate employee files for active and past employees.
- Coordinate and conduct new hire orientation.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; recommends best practices and reviews policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
- Assist employees by answering general credit union policy questions or clarifying benefit use.
- Promote employee relations by providing input and guidance on interpreting policies relating to employees and the credit union's objectives.
- Assist with employee engagement activities, planning, and executing.
- Assist in developing HR-related communications and services for all staff. Communicate updates to the team regarding openings, new hires, promotions, etc.
- Assist with the selection and recruitment of employees; interview candidates and provide direction to managers about the interview process; administer appropriate proficiency tests to job applicants and post positions; screen applicants sent to managers, process onboarding; manage IT tickets, payroll, new hire packets, ensuring that proper interviewing and testing practices are utilized in the hiring process; develop relationships with external employment sources. Complete required checks on prospective new hires, references, background, credit, and personal references.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Performance Management:
- Provide outstanding service to staff as defined by our service standards and promises.
- Provide accurate reconciliation reports and status of recruitment efforts, benefit costs, utilization, personnel files, etc.
- Expand knowledge and develop skills to enhance understanding of human resources.
- Process applicant and new hire information with accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications of Education and Skills:
Experience: Minimum of three years of similar or related experience.
Education: (1) Bachelors Degree, or (2) Achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a Bachelors Degree.
Certification: Certifications recognized in the Human Resource Industry

Interpersonal: Work involves extensive contact with others and is of a private and sensitive nature.
Other Skills: Working knowledge of employment and interviewing practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to express ideas and procedures clearly and consistently; ability to work with highly confidential information. Knowledge and proficiency use of computer applications, including spreadsheets and Word; excellent organizational skills; must be detail-oriented and accurate.
