About the Role
The Human Resources Generalist will provide assistance in the general administration of the Human Resources Department. This includes managing and supporting employee leave programs, overseeing the workers' compensation programs, supporting human resources and administrative activities such as HR specific ADP database maintenance, file maintenance, and general support to employees to ensure compliance with company policies. This also includes assisting in the research, development and implementation of new or revised HR programs as well as assisting in the ongoing management of existing programs in coordination with ADP Comprehensive Services.
The position requires prior knowledge and skills in Human Resources.
What You'll Do
- Organizes and maintains employee files in accordance with company policy. Retains records in line with company record retention requirements.
- Provide support to the field with the progressive discipline process.
- Works closely with the Human Resources Manager to ensure compliance with HR processes, procedures and policies, and assists with company initiatives, and new programs.
- Main point of contact to oversee and administer leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans.
- Coordinating unemployment insurance claims and hearings.
- Serve as a liaison between management and employees by handling questions and helping to resolve work-related conflicts in a timely and fair manner.
- Determine FMLA eligibility, send paperwork and track employees on leave.
- Generates HRIS reports on a regular and ad hoc basis.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in HR specifically with Leave Management, Worker's Comp and Employee Relations
- Must have good knowledge and understanding of federal and state employment law and regulations
- Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws.
- Experience with Worker's Compensation reporting and compliance
- SHRM CP or PHR Certified preferred
- Must have excellent time management skills and be detail-oriented.
- Excellent communication skills --written and verbal.
- The ability to gather and present data in a clear concise manner.
- Experience working with ADP/Workforce Now
- Experience with ADP Comprehensive Services a plus.
- Experience working in a multi-location/multi-state environment.
