HR GENERALIST & BENEFITS SPECIALIST (Contract)
Our client is an international financial services organization, located in the South Orange County area. They need a senior-level HR Generalist & Benefits Specialist to support their organization on a 4-6 month project. Reporting to an HR Manager, you will support the full range of benefits administration, including open enrollments, benefit updates, system changes, leave of absence and market data research, along with providing other Generalist support throughout the Department. The position is on-site with flexibility to work from home on Fridays.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in such areas as employee relations, leave of absence, benefits, and general HR administration.
- Originate and maintain up-to-date and accurate HRIS information for all employees: employee personnel records, benefit elections and changes, wage changes, performance reviews, disciplinary actions and training records.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and yearly reports, such as new hire, termination, AA/EEO/VETS, benefit statements, PCC training requirements, census data surveys, wage surveys and other projects as assigned.
- Prepare employee communication materials and prepare and distribute benefit and other HR policy change announcements.
- Maintain accurate and current information in employee’s personnel file and in computer system. Organize and maintain department files, both physical and electronic, in an accurate, orderly, and efficient manner.
- Create benefit termination packages and ensure related termination notifications and paperwork is complete per regulations.
- Act as liaison between employees and supervisors/managers on benefit related issues; works closely with HR Manager to take actions necessary for resolution of issues.
- Provide day-to-day communication with employees regarding new or revised company policies and upcoming events/activities to engage employees.
- Review, modify, and implement and administer HR policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in HR and Benefits Administration field required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field is preferred; PHR or SHRM certification, preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of Federal and California Labor Regulations.
- Experience with WorkforceNow and PayFactors is strongly preferred.
- Ability to understand and analyze complex situations and make sound decisions through critical thinking.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible, team-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills: excellent attention to detail and follow through.
- Able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
- Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required with ability to create corporate-wide employee communications, and draft policy changes.
