Work Hours: This position will work and be paid for 75 hours in a 2 week pay period
Starting Salary: $19.06 an hour / $37,167.00 annually

Responsibilities
- Performs non-routine administrative tasks to assist in providing departmental services; prepares, authorizes, and issues documents and forms; provides guidance and information regarding departmental services.
- Assists HR Manager for Training and Talent Development with various aspects of the county’s training program to include creation of the training calendar, reserving training rooms, sending out assessments/pre-work, scheduling participants, maintaining evaluation data, and tracking registrations and attendance for quarterly and yearly reports.
- Assists with new hire orientation to include setting up the training room, greeting new hires, ensuring required forms/documents are submitted, issuing employee badges, accompanying new hires throughout orientation, and follow-up emails and survey.
- Maintains the Electronic Learning Management System, Moodle, to include creating courses, entering sessions, logging employee attendance, pulling reports and ensure employee compliance with mandatory trainings.
- Assist with the county’s Leadership Essentials classes to include obtaining participant agreements, arranging catering, updating, and distributing participant directory, and ensuring completion certificates are received timely.
- Assist with the county’s Leadership Academy program including processing applications, notifying participants of acceptance, and assisting with scheduling them for required trainings.
- Ensures compliance with the county’s Mandated Reporter and Child Abuse Clearances. Run quarterly reports from the HRIS, identify employees that are out of compliance or need to renew and notify departments/offices. Obtain updated clearance documents and/or training certificates from departments/offices and update the data in the HRIS
- Ensure materials are prepared for various training sessions to include sign-in sheets, participant handouts, flip charts/markers, name tents, and other necessary supplies.
- Assists with the handling of Unemployment Compensation claims including checking the benefit site for new applications, appeals/decisions, completing requests for information, or coordinating responses to requests with the HR Manager(s) or the county’s payroll and retirement coordinators.
- Answers main HR phone line receives incoming calls; takes messages; provides information to callers; forwards calls to appropriate location. Ensuring back up coverage of HR main phone line.
- Performs routine typing and computer data entry; updates and maintains computer database. Assists with website administration.
- Maintains filing system for department; updates files; pulls information as needed.
- Assists with the creation, distribution, tracking and filing of paperwork for unemployment compensation, leave management (LOA, FMLA, WC), etc.
- Prepares various reports, documents, correspondence, and forms; creates and updates forms.
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail; sorts and distributes mail.
- Attends meetings, training and seminars as required.
- Coordinates various schedules and activities of the department.
- Assists with the organization and coordination of various employee events.
- Back-up to the HR Assistant for Recruitment which includes processing new hires, receiving personnel action forms, making initial contact, setting up pre-employment testing & clearances, sending out conditional offer letter, hire new employee through applicant tracking system, and ensuring new employee files are complete prior to filing.
- Assists with the creation of new hire packets for new hire orientation ensuring forms are printed & copied neatly and packets are made up in advance.
- Performs other job duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Work Experience:
- 2-3 years working experience in a professional office environment or related field.
