WHAT WE’RE AFTER…
An established, full-service architecture, engineering and interior design firm with a corporate office environment seeks a Human Resources Assistant with skills to provide support to the firm and leadership team.
Excellent communication skills and the desire to work in a collaborative, growing company, performing a variety of tasks to support our teams in Austin, San Antonio and Houston. Candidates must be able to prioritize and execute multiple tasks, be data driven, have strong proofreading capabilities; and solve problems in a team environment.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT AT O'CONNELL ROBERTSON….
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Maintains files for and delivers celebratory information for staff calls and marketing.
- Provides clerical support to the HR department.
- Assists with payroll functions including, but not limited to, timesheet approval, answering employee questions, and reviewing data for accuracy.
- Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
- Conducts or assists with new hire orientation, including I-9s and E-Verify.
- Assists with administrative tasks involved with onboarding and offboarding employees.
- Assists with employee exit meetings.
- Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits open enrollment.
- The understanding and ability to work within an HRIS software.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WHAT IT TAKES TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE...
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS).
- Prior Human Resources experience and data entry experience desired.
- A teamwork approach and attitude.

- Associate’s degree or above in related field preferred.
- Prior related office experience required, human resources or administrative experience preferred.
