What You Will Do:

The HR Assistant will have primary responsibility for all Student Worker hiring processes with the exception of Federal Work Study Students including departmental needs assessment, budgeting, background checks, reporting and time card approvals. This position will also assist in payroll and HR functions including maintaining databases, updating reports, and organizing files. Partners with HR Generalist, recruiters and hiring managers to assist with the phone screens, interview set ups and onboarding for staff positions within the university.

This position is classified as a full-time position but will work 30 hours per week on campus in Chicago with a flexible schedule to be determined upon hire.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Assists departments with all aspects of student employment including but not limited to job posting, recruitment, interview coordination, processing paperwork, background checks and onboarding

• Actively participates in assisting staff and faculty with general HR questions including those related to benefits, performance reviews, recruitment practices, payroll, policies and procedures

• Oversees the payroll process for all student workers to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of time card reporting including accurately entering tax information and other payroll related information into Banner

Qualifications:

• Associate's Degree, strongly preferred (several years of relevant experience needed from those without the minimum degree requirement)

• At least one year of relevant Human Resources (or closely related) experience

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
