Duties
- Acquiring & onboarding new talent. Plan and conduct recruitment and selection processes (interviews, screening calls etc.)
- Training new and existing employees.
- Coaching - Establish goals for every employee – work with them to meet the goals.
- Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity and development of HR within the company
- Setting goals for a HR team and inspire and motivate the team to achieve excellence in terms of customer support and core HR processes. Participates in the establishment of long-range objectives for the department. Recommends innovative human resource policies, procedures, and programs that contribute to achieving the objectives of the company and positive employee relations.
- Successfully monitor the "pulse" of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement
- Develops and implements employee rewards, incentives, and compensation programs.
- Use metrics to create reports and identify areas of improvement
- Track and analyze investigation data, identify trends, and drive organizational improvements, as appropriate, for proactive issue prevention.
- Set strategy on training and development programs that offer greater skill sets to team members which improve efficiency, costs, quality, and leadership.
- Develops and manages a succession plan in conjunction with management and lead talent management efforts.
- Assures the management and employees maintain awareness and operate by standards of conduct.
- Ensures that state and federal employment regulations are not violated, and plant remains current on revisions and new law or company policy. Educates all team members of changes to law and policies.
- Build a constructive relationship with employees and supervision with customers and plant managers. Act as a general counsel and assist employees and supervision on human resource and job-related issues.
- Conduct internal investigations and assist with progressive disciplinary process and terminations.
- Organize and lead the orientation process for all new employees – temporary and direct-hire. Enroll new employees and ensure proper documentation relating to payroll and benefits is complete and current.
- Maintain complete and accurate records and files including personnel files for all employees. This includes filing as necessary.
- Oversee the administration of attendance and leave of absences, including FMLA and Accident and Sickness administration.
- Maintain the HRIS system for all employees including new hire and change in status information. This includes data entry on a regular basis.
- General oversight of company payroll and benefits administration.
- Managing the company 401k programs and renewals. Includes meeting with the vendor quarterly to ensure company goals and needs are met.
- Managing employee insurance renewals, changes as needed, and the open enrollment period.
- Maintain and update affirmative action plan.
- Scout unique strategies for new employee recruitment
- Other duties to be assigned as necessary.
- Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related discipline is preferred
- A minimum of 2 years of HR management or related fields
- Proficient in the use of social media and job boards
- Experience in the transportation industry preferred
- Working knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and databases
- Excellent communications, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
- Knowledge of the EHS, OSHA regulations, EEOC reporting requirements, NLRA law, and Worker’s Compensation state statute.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and can effectively deliver clear presentations.
- Skill in analyzing issues from business, technical, customer, and organizational perspectives.
- Ability to forge strong relationships, to establish rapport, and to relate to others with diverse backgrounds in a manner fostering respect and dignity.
- Ability to gain support and commitment from others, to promote ideas and proposals persuasively and energetically, and to determine the needs and interests of others.
- Ability to accurately assess strengths and development needs of employees, to provide timely and specific feedback and helpful coaching/counseling, and to provide challenging assignments and opportunities to subordinates for development purposes.
- Knowledge of benefits administration.
- Ability to travel as needed. 4-6 weeks annually
