Position:
The Human Resource Generalist will assist with a variety of complex strategic and administrative tasks to support the daily operations of the Human Resources Department. The role is based in Odessa, TX and reports directly to the Human Resource Manager. The selected candidate will be a key member of our team and will collaborate to build a best-in-class HR department. This role provides opportunity for growth and development in all aspects of Human Resources.
Essential Duties:
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants/employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management
- Assists with recruiting, coordinating pre-employment, drug screens, background checks, and onboarding/orientation.
- Assist with investigations as needed in coordination with senior level HR
- Conduct or schedule training
- Respond to and manage claims for unemployment and verification of employment.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports as needed
- Perform exit interviews. Analyzes trends and provides summary reports to management.
- Assist with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, and celebrations.
- Carry out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, confidential, and professional manner.
- Responsible for assuring all appropriate documentation is current and updated at all times
- Must be able travel to other branch locations to assist with ongoing initiatives
- May assist with ongoing company projects and initiatives as needed
- Other duties as assigned, exercising discretion and independent judgement in all duties
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources management or related area (preferred)
- 2-5 years HR experience
- Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems and Human Resources Information Systems.
- Ability to adapt and function in an environment of changing priorities
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines as well as employment/labor laws and best practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee data
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check
- HRCI or SHRM Certifications preferred but not required
- Bi-lingual (preferred, not required)
- Regular, reliable/punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
Physical Requirements:
- Long periods of sitting or standing
- Finger agility for keyboarding
- Infrequent light physical effort (i.e., bending, reaching)
- Lift up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to travel to other company locations as needed, up to 20%
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone
- Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Typical Working Conditions:
- Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential
