Position Summary
The Human Resources (HR) Manager is responsible for recruitment, training, career development, payroll, compensation and benefits, employee relations, industrial relations, employment law, compliance, disciplinary and grievance issues, etc. The job entails the requirement to keep up to date with matters which change regularly, such as employment law.
Position Tasks
- To ensure the organization is an attractive employer, identify areas pertaining to staff turnover
- Create and monitor a human resources system in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Create comprehensive human resources policies and procedures that comply with federal and state laws.
- Analyses wage and salary reports; create a comprehensive and competitive compensation program that is specific and aligns with organizational objectives.
- Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations in relationship to the human resource function. Ensure organization is in compliance with legal requirements. Update policies and procedures and educate managers accordingly regarding compliance.
- Schedule and conduct annual job evaluations. Recommend and plan pay structure revisions based on findings.
- Plan, monitor and implement employee performance appraisal as per a set schedule. Train managers on appraisal system and coach employees accordingly. Resolve grievances regarding employee appraisals; provide counselling to employees and supervisors as needed and appropriate.
- Establish and maintain employee benefit programs. Inform employees of benefits. Analyses and assess trends in benefits and recommend adjustments in benefits as appropriate. Process claims and obtain new benefit contract bids as appropriate
- Responsible for recruitment and retention of staff. Employee engagement. Orientation of new staff members and preparation of training together with operations. Responsible for pre-screening, background investigation and credentialing of new staff members. Work with managers to identify staffing needs and identify hiring potentials based on budget.
- Employee relations, counselling, and disciplining employees. Terminations, conducting exit interviews.
- Attending dispute hearings.
- Worker compensation and risk management.
Experience & Qualifications
- Expertise in the areas of employee relations, recruiting, training, worker’s compensation, training, unemployment.
- Knowledge of all employment-related compliance requirements, including federal and state employment law.
- Excellent communication and interviewing skills.
- Ability to interact effectively at various social and organizational levels and across diverse cultures.
- Self-motivated; goal-oriented; strong work ethic.
- People person; instills confidence in employees and associates.
- Excellent knowledge in MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of the operation of a Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
