What you'll do
As the HR Generalist for Utilimaster (A Shyft Brand), you will enjoy play a critical role in progressing the Human Resources systems and initiatives at our facilities in Bristol, IN and Charlotte, MI in the areas of recruitment and selection, benefits, compensation, and performance management.
You will also be responsible for overseeing the plant's conflict resolution activity and making recommendations to department managers about paths to resolution. You will also be expected to administer the company compensation and benefits programs and investigate claims of policy or code of ethics violations.

What you'll do
As the HR Generalist for Utilimaster (A Shyft Brand), you will enjoy play a critical role in progressing the Human Resources systems and initiatives at our facilities in Bristol, IN and Charlotte, MI in the areas of recruitment and selection, benefits, compensation, and performance management.
You will also be responsible for overseeing the plant's conflict resolution activity and making recommendations to department managers about paths to resolution. You will also be expected to administer the company compensation and benefits programs and investigate claims of policy or code of ethics violations.
You will also:
- Develop and administer company-wide compensation and benefit programs, HR policies, HR systems, procedures, and practices
- Maintain compliance with applicable HR legal requirements
- Respond to inquiries regarding HR processes, policies, procedures, and programs
- Collaborate with HR at other Shyft locations to support projects and initiatives
- Identify potential employee-relations issues and make recommendations for resolution to leadership
- Resolve individual or team issues or conflicts through counsel team members and managers
- Conduct thorough investigations about policy and Code of Ethics violation claims
- Facilitate the hiring process in partnership with supervisors
- Conducting background checks and assist with wage negotiations in support of hiring
- Manage short-term disability and FMLA leave requests and claims
- Oversee and promote Affirmative Action Program and activities
- Coordinate the distribution and communication of the Handbook, 401(k) Plan, healthcare, and other benefits
- Create and publish monthly HR metrics
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business
- Three or more (3+) years of related HR experience
- Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations
- A reputation for having unquestionable integrity
- Versed in working in a highly confidential environment
- Proficient on Microsoft 365
- A history of effectively handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines within a high-pressure environment
- Sound judgment with the ability to make timely, and sometimes difficult, decisions
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
- Willing to continually improve self / area / company (including pursuing additional training)
- PHR, SPHR, or GPHR certification(s)
- Bilingual skills (Spanish/English)
