Job Title: Human Resource Assistant
Location: 100% On-Site
Pay Rate: $15-20 per hour
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
Job Overview: The Human Resource Assistant provides general HR support to the HR Manager and HR Business Partner (HRBP) in a manufacturing and unionized environment. This role is responsible for assisting with new hire orientation, onboarding, and verifying employment documents, as well as helping with Workers' Compensation and FMLA processes. The position requires candidates to have experience in core HR processes and the ability to work directly with employees in a supportive, proactive manner.
Responsibilities:
- Provide general HR support and guidance to associates and supervisors
- Assist with new hire orientation, including preparing materials and walking new hires through the onboarding process
- Verify I-9 forms for new hires and ensure compliance with employment regulations
- Support the Workers' Compensation and FMLA processes
- Help with unemployment claims, return to work procedures, and exit interviews
- Assist with leave administration and OSHA reporting
- Coordinate and conduct new associate orientations
- Support HR initiatives to enhance employee engagement, inclusion, and retention
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and hiring managers to support recruitment and staffing plans
- Maintain eTime system and assist with payroll-related activities
Required Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources, with a focus on general HR support and onboarding
- Experience in handling Workers' Compensation and FMLA matters
- Knowledge of HR processes such as new hire orientation, I-9 verification, unemployment claims, and exit interviews
- Ability to work in a manufacturing and union environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Education:
- A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
- Equivalent experience or training may be considered
