Position Summary:The HSES Coordinator focuses on safety programs and processes, safety equipment, and emergency response at the EVAL plant. They will work with the production team to drive the application of safety procedures in the field through audits, develop and deliver safety training, and work with the Contractor Safety Supervisor to ensure contractor safety information is accurate and updated. Finally, they will drive all emergency response activities at the EVAL site, including training and drills in conjunction with the corporate Emergency Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all EVAL safety procedures, ensuring updates, training, and compliance.
- Champion safety through field presence, auditing Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), permits (hot/cold work, confined space), and operational tasks, with regular safety documentation reviews.
- Facilitate Hazard Recognition Programs as a trainer and coach.
- Manage and improve the behavior-based safety observation system, including data management and results communication.
- Enhance contractor safety programs, updating materials in collaboration with the Health and Safety Council (HASC).
- Serve as a member and sponsor of the EVAL Safety Committee.
- Develop and deliver content for shift safety meetings.
- Regularly review and train on weekend safety check procedures, ensuring timely execution of repairs.
- Lead and participate in safety incident investigations.
- Conduct orientations for all new employees on-site.
- Participate in pre-startup safety reviews as requested.
- Manage document control and recordkeeping.
- Lead digitalization efforts to streamline safety processes.
- Train on and manage industrial hygiene (IH) equipment, ensuring maintenance and calibration in collaboration with IH vendors.
- Assist with annual third-party IH monitoring.
- Pursue advanced training in NIMS, industrial firefighting, rescue, and industrial hygiene.
- Coordinate Emergency Response (ER) Team training with corporate safety and production teams.
- Organize quarterly site drills, tabletop exercises, and accountability drills, completing post-drill critiques and documentation.
- Oversee fire protection systems, including annual testing and repairs tracking.
- Enforce security standards, managing employees, contractor, and visitor badges.
- Audit and improve site security practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED; degree in HSE or related field preferred
- Minimum of 12 months of related experience in HSE activities and regulatory requirements
- Minimum of 12 months of related experience in chemical manufacturing facility
- Outstanding verbal and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, creative thinking, consulting, and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize work to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving/decision-making skills.
- Ability to multi-task
- Candidates must have a valid driver's license.
