Vera’s lead product candidate is atacicept, a fully humanized fusion protein self-administered at home as a subcutaneous injection once weekly that blocks both B-cell Activating Factor (BAFF) and A Proliferation Inducing Ligand (APRIL), which stimulate B cells and plasma cells to produce galactose-deficient IgA1 (Gd-IgA1) and associated autoantibodies, which together form immune complexes that are fundamental in the pathogenesis of IgA nephropathy (IgAN). Vera is also considering evaluating the role of atacicept in other immunologic disorders. Additionally, Vera is developing MAU868, a monoclonal antibody designed to neutralize infection with BK Virus, a polyomavirus that can have devastating consequences in certain settings such as kidney transplant. Position Summary:
The HR Business Partner will work closely with Vera’s R&D team leadership and employees advising on HR trends/initiatives in a collaborative manner working towards organizational business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Advise senior R&D leaders in solving complex issues related to organization design, development, and change leadership.
- Proactively defines, builds and implements value-added HR strategies and solutions.
- Establishes strategies and tactics to enable the business to attract, develop, and motivate high-quality talent at all levels to support the growth objectives, opportunities, and strategies of the business.
- Build deep and impactful partnerships with all HR functions to provide HR solutions to key business needs.
- Leverage complex data and people analytics to provide critical insights into business and talent trends that inform the overall R&D and HR priorities. Provide insights in a simple, creative, and relevant way that challenges current thinking, informs business decisions, and shows how decisions impact business outcomes.
- Participate and lead as appropriate corporate-wide programs that enhance the overall employee experience supporting growth and leading to overall business strategy success of overall.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues as needed.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition (TA) to ensure TA strategy is in place and fit for purpose to deliver on key capability and workforce build, with a specific focus on diverse and critical talent.
- May design, plan, and implement a range of HR projects and programs, including performance and development, talent management, employee engagement survey and HR policy and procedures.
- Ensure legal compliance (state, country, and regional) by monitoring and implementing applicable requirements and updates; conducting investigations; maintaining records; and overall representation of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related, relevant discipline.
- 8+ years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience developing and implementing HR strategies with R&D clients in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred.
- Expert-level experience developing strategic workforce plans, from conception to implementation.
- A demonstrated history of success in supporting client groups in a consultive role.
- In depth knowledge of organizational development, process management, and change management.
- Experience conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations with appropriate management recommendations.
- An excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to educate and influence through formal and informal communications.
- Highly experienced in talent management, succession planning, and career growth and development.
- Strong experience managing and/or leading culture and change management or organizational effectiveness initiatives.
- Recognition of the importance of being highly responsive to the needs of senior management, colleagues and staff.
- Understanding of related employment laws, concepts and practices related to the administration of a variety of human resources programs.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, ethic and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple complicated tasks.

For this role, the anticipated base pay range begins at $220,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geography, qualifications, skills, and experience.
At Vera, base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual performance incentive bonus, new hire equity, and ongoing performance-based equity.
