The Human Resources Specialist will assist the People and Culture Manager and Plant Leadership in providing human resources support to all hourly employees and first point of contact for salaried employees at three Websterville, VT locations.
This position provides support in managing human resource initiatives, employee relations, and labor relations at plant location. This position is responsible for partnering with center of excellence recruiting team for hourly recruitment and on-boarding, selection and hiring, including self-assessments, background checks, and drug/alcohol testing processes.
A key skill for the HR Specialist is business acumen, the ability to integrate HR into operations, to make recommendations and support innovation in the business. This position is responsible for interpreting situations while consistently applying company policy, and good judgement.
The Human Resources Specialist will need to:
- Use good independent judgement to execute daily work requirements.
- Deliver strategic human resource initiatives that support business objectives.
- Effectively collaborates with local, regional, and corporate HR teams to achieve plant objectives.
- Execute production recruitment plan by managing selection process, including manage interview logistics, maintain compliant applicant records, conduct orientation and the new hire process,and conduct compliance training for new hires.
- Develops and reviews diversity (AAP) plan with focused recruitment strategies .
- Leads community activities that demonstrate and support our Affirmative Action goals.
- Partners with HR Manager in conducting investigations and makes corrective action recommendations.
- Partners with plant leadership to effectively manage performance of all employees.
- Assists Plant Leadership in coaching and development of their teams along with application and interpretation of labor relations policies and practices, according to policy.
- Logs and tracks performance and all other employee discipline for the plant.
- Maintains employee personnel and all other HR related files.
- Ensure legal and compliance information postings are met and union information as needed.
- Manages or oversees Attendance Program .
- Responsible for all local payroll processes.
- Proactively recommend ideas and solutions to effectively address the needs of the organization.
- Detect / Anticipate potential issues, determine reasonable solutions to problems to drive improvement.
- Assist in implementing, evaluating strategies and programs to improve employee engagement and retention .
- Analyzes training needs ; implements training delivery with plant management; facilitate various training activities; and ensures compliance with company and legally required training.
- Educate leaders to ensure consistent application of policies, union contract language, while promoting positive employee relations.
- Partners with EHS and plant leadership as needed on daily application of leave of absence policies, procedures, and compliance requirements (ADA, FMLA, Workers' Compensation and Disability)
- HR team partner to ensure compliance with EEOC, FMLA, Code of Conduct, Discrimination, Harassment, and other legal/policy issues.
Experience -Education (Required):
- Undergraduate degree in human resources or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1- 2 years of experience in Human Resources Specialist or Generalist role.

Hours: This is a three-shift manufacturing plant; the incumbent will need to be flexible to work off-shifts from time to time or switch shifts as needed for communication purposes.
