Our top-notch client has been leading the transportation industry for over three decades and is looking for an HR Specialist .
The HR Specialist are responsible for developing recruitment strategies, coordinating the hiring process, inclusive of sourcing candidates, screening and interview, maintaining records, payroll processing, tax compliance and benefit administration. This role ensures that the company has a steady pipeline of drivers while maintaining accurate and compliant payroll records.
Compensation: $60,000
Location: Sterling, VA
Schedule: Mon – Fri, 9:00AM – 5:00PM
HR Specialist Responsibilities:
1. HR Specialist Hiring Responsibilities:
- Driver Recruitment : Develop recruitment strategies, Source candidates, screen and interview, coordinate hiring process, maintain records and hire qualified drivers.
- Onboarding : Conduct background checks, verify licenses, and ensure compliance with company policies
- Training and Development: Organize orientation sessions and ongoing training programs for new and existing drivers
- Compliance : Ensure all drivers meet regulatory requirements and maintain up-to-date records of certifications and licenses
- Performance Monitoring: Track driver performance, address issues, and implement improvement plans as needed.
- Communication : Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers regarding employment-related inquiries and concerns.
- Driver Planning : Work closely with operations team to understand driver needs and align recruitment efforts with company goals.
- Cost management : Optimize advertising strategies, improve recruiter efficiency, utilize technology to automate and streamline hiring process, enhance onboarding program, and reduce driver turn over.
- Payroll Processing : Collect and verify timesheet data, calculate wages, and process paychecks accurately and on time.
- Data Management : Maintain payroll information and databases, ensuring all employee data is up-to-date and accurate.
- Compliance : Ensure compliance with federal, state and local tax laws, including processing wage garnishments and other deductions.
- Issue Resolution : Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee complaints regarding payments.
- Reporting: Prepare and distribute payroll reports, summaries of earnings, taxes and deductions and other payroll-related documentation.
HR Specialist Qualifications/Competencies:
- BA in Business, HR, Accounting, or related
- 2-3 yrs experience in HR, recruitment, payroll or relevant – preferably in the transportation industry
- Strong communications, organizational, and time management skills
- Attention to Detail, Regulatory Understanding, Problem Solving, Self- Starter
