We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HR & Safety Manager to join our dynamic team in the Manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment, as well as managing all human resources functions. This is a permanent position requiring a high level of strategic thinking, expertise in union negotiations, and a strong commitment to safety training. The HR & Safety Manager will be a key figure in the development and implementation of HR and safety policies, ensuring that all procedures are in line with current laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
- Manage the recruitment and selection process to ensure a high-quality workforce.
- Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation, and preservation of human capital.
- Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization.
- Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.
- Lead negotiations with unions and manage the relationship between the company and unions.
- Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs, including training staff in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
- Conduct safety inspections and prepare reports on findings while suggesting improvements and preventative measures.
- Collaborate with management to monitor compliance and identify safety issues.
- Develop strategic solutions to minimize workplace accidents and health problems.
- Respond to employees’ safety concerns and handle workers’ compensation claims.
Qualifications:
- Proven working experience as an HR Manager or similar role for at least 10 years.
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating with unions.
- In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing safety programs.
- Solid experience with conducting safety training.
- Outstanding strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
- Degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Certifications in health and safety management will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of data analysis and HR metrics.
- Proficient with MS Office and HR software (e.g., HRIS or HRMS).
