We are excited to share a new Direct Hire opportunity! We are helping a local manufacturer and supplier of electrical cables hire an HR Manager.
We are looking for an HR manager with a solid understanding of employment laws and regulations, such as those related to hiring, termination, compensation, benefits, discrimination, and workplace safety. Staying up to date with legal changes is important to ensure compliance.
JOB DUTIES
HR MANAGER:
- Knowledge of ADP human resources systems, planning and organizing, Interviewing techniques, attention to detail, formal and informal communication skills, written and oral communication skills, teamwork, dependability.
- Employee Benefits, Labor Relations, Training and Development, Recruiting and Staffing, Employee Relations/Violence Prevention.
- Coordinate and administer employee benefit plans including health coverage, dental, vision and 401K.
- Responsible for entering enrollment, deletion and information updates for all eligible employees. Assist employee with completion of benefit enrollment and/or claim forms, contact insurance representatives as needed.
- Monitor employee records for compliance and confidentiality.
- Notify supervisors/managers of due dates for employees’ evaluations and monitor compliance.
- Process requests for transfers, promotions and other internal employee movements.
- Enroll and maintain employee benefits and assist in reconciling employee monthly pension.
- Consult with supervisory personnel on employee relations, in consultation with Director of Personnel.
- Prepare EEO and other related reports.
- Conduct exit interviews and terminations with supervisor in conjunction and consultation with Director of Personnel.
- Prepare and mail out COBRA package to separated individuals.
- Remain current with labor laws and regulations, statutory and other matters as they may pertain to operations of the Human Resources Department.
- Responds to routine requests for HR information such as verification of employment requests from others.
- Maintain the safety manual up to date.
- Create and maintain Employee Handbooks and ensure associates comply with policies and procedures.
- Keep company in compliance with Federal & State laws and regulations, OSHA Compliance.
- Training and Development: identify training and organize training programs to enhance employees' skills and knowledge.
REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: HR manager positions generally require several years of progressive experience in human resources, better if in the wholesale industry or manufacturing
- Knowledge of Employment Laws: HR managers should have a solid understanding of employment laws and regulations, such as those related to hiring, termination, compensation, benefits, discrimination, and workplace safety. Staying up to date with legal changes is important to ensure compliance.
- Recruitment and Selection: Strong skills in recruitment and selection are essential for HR managers. They should be able to develop effective sourcing strategies, conduct interviews, assess candidates, and make informed hiring decisions.
- Employee Relations: should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively handle employee relations issues, as they need the ability to listen, empathize, and mediate conflicts.
- HR Strategy and Planning: HR managers should have a strategic mindset and the ability to align HR initiatives with the company's overall goals. They should be able to develop HR policies and procedures, create training and development programs, and contribute to workforce planning and talent management.
- Compensation and Benefits: Knowledge of compensation and benefits programs, including salary structures, performance-based incentives, and employee benefits packages, is important. HR managers should be able to analyze market data, conduct salary surveys, and ensure competitive and fair compensation practices.
- Problem-solving and Decision-making: HR managers need strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex HR issues effectively.
- Ethical Conduct: HR managers often handle sensitive employee information and must maintain confidentiality and integrity.
- Leadership and Management Skills: HR managers should possess leadership qualities and the ability to manage and motivate a team.

EDUCATION:
- A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or psychology. A master's degree or professional certification in HR management is preferred.
