GLOBAL OPS is a U.S. based security services company with 250 employees, seeking an HR Specialist to join our team. The right candidate must be energetic, highly organized, have a positive attitude, be a great communicator, and has writing and computer skills, as well as familiarity with HR and employment regulations in NY state. The ideal candidate will have office experience and be a self-starter.
The HR Specialist, reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, will oversee and manage the entire HR function, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce. This position involves coordinating with a team of HR and Recruitment staff, being the liaison in employee and labor relations, personnel administration, recruitment, onboarding, training, benefits administration, and policy development. The HR Specialist will collaborate closely with key company leaders, providing expertise and guidance on HR and employment matters.
Key responsibilities:
- Administrative tasks:
- Answering all internal and external HR inquiries, maintaining employee files, scheduling meetings and interviews, documentation
- Process Improvement:
- Assist with the evaluation and modernization of current HR functions and structures, creating a plan for enhancement and efficiency aligned with the Company's goals.
- Policy and Procedure Development:
- Review, develop, and update HR policies and procedures, including the Employee Handbook, hiring protocols, evaluations, compliance guidelines, and other related frameworks in accordance with labor laws and best practices
- Onboarding and Employee Orientation:
- Oversee effective new employee orientation and onboarding procedures to facilitate a smooth integration into the organization.
- Employee Relations:
- Coordinate employee relations and recognition programs, focusing on creating a positive and engaging workplace culture.
- Compliance and Legal:
- Ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local legal requirements related to HR practices, employment laws, and industry-specific regulations.
- Compensation and Benefits Strategy:
- Oversee the compensation, retirement, and benefits strategy in consultation with Company leadership to attract and retain talent.
- Recruitment and Labor Relations:
- Direct and evaluate the Company’s recruitment efforts and strategy, overseeing labor relations, employee contract negotiations, and administrative filings.
- Assist with the identification, selection, and interview process of quality candidates
- Employee Training and Development:
- Maintain and enhance employee training for compliance and professional development purposes.
- Prepare materials for performance reviews and attend performance appraisals as well as disciplinary actions
- Employee Satisfaction and Climate:
- Assess the company climate and employee satisfaction at regular intervals, sharing this data with Company leadership for actionable insights.
- Personnel Issue Resolution:
- Serve as a resource to employees, handling personnel issues, grievances, and other sensitive matters in a confidential and professional manner.
- Assist with and execute the termination process when appropriate
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Management, or a related field.
- Five or more years of HR support, showcasing leadership and growth. (preferred)
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Background in employee and labor relations.
- Highly organized and adept at managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Experience within the security industry (preferred).
- Familiarity with Google Office and workplace software tools (preferred).
- Experience working with relevant HRIS and ATS systems for employee lifecycle and recruitment
- In-depth knowledge of relevant federal and New York State employment laws and regulations (preferred).
Compensation:
$75,000-$85,000 per year
