ACE Human Resources Internship
Alliance for Community Empowerment (ACE) is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering disadvantaged communities in the San Fernando Valley. ACE provides education, workforce development, violence intervention & prevention, reentry navigation and mental health services for marginalized individuals and families. Since its inception, ACE has assisted thousands of individuals in overcoming barriers by addressing the core issues facing their low-income communities. ACE’s core programs include YouthBuild, GRYD, SECTOR, and Parenting. Our fundamental belief is that when people are provided with the right tools, positive role models, and opportunities, they can transform their lives and their communities.
Internship Announcement:
We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join our team as a ACE Human Resources Intern. There are two paid internship programs offered. One is available for a semester-long internship and the other is a yearlong internship. Both internship opportunities provide interns the opportunity to gain experience in a professional environment, develop skill sets in human resources operations, learn about HR Operations within the non-profit sector, gain experience with the HRIS system and the recruitment and onboarding of talent, and develop and support an employee recognition program. Interns have access to professional development opportunities from in-office training to training in communications platforms such as LinkedIn, ADP, betterteam, and more. The HR Intern will also have the opportunity to collaborate in executive-level meetings surrounding organizational growth and talent acquisition.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the HR Manager with daily human resource operations and projects.
- Learn and engage in the ADP Workforce HRIS and MyLearning system.
- Assist in all recruitment and onboarding processes and activities to secure and retain talent.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop Professional Development training for staff.
- Develop and support an employee recognition program.
Qualifications:
- Strong and confident leadership and initiative.
- Ability to work well within a team setting and collaborate both with colleagues and senior management.
- Passion for human resources and a deep understanding of the non-profit sector.
- Experience with Google Suite.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- An eye for detail and strong organizational skills, creative thinking, and research skills.
- Passion for community service, engagement, and empowerment.
Hours and Compensation:
- The internship is for approximately 20 hours a week, with the possibility of extension.
