Smile Brands is a dominant player in the dental space and we are seeking a Human Resource Generalist to join our team. In this role you will support the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including administrative assignments, leave of absence support, employee relation duties and enforcing company policies and practices.
This is a hybrid role, working for home and on-site at our Schaumburg, IL office. Occasional travel to field dental offices may be required based on business needs.
Schedule (days/hours):M-F 8-5Responsibilities:- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Helps to assist with the Leave of Absence process as needed. Reviews, and approves restrictions. Works with managers to ensure staffing needs are met.
- Handles workers compensation claims as they come in. Collects all necessary paperwork, calls in the claim, and works with management to ensure safety protocols are established and followed within the office.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in human resources
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent HR experience
- Must have experience with Worker Compensation, Leave of Absence, and Employee Relations
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate difficult conversations while providing support and guidance to employees and leadership
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- SHRM-CP is a plus
- Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations in IL, CA, & TX
