Reporting to the local HR Manager, this is an onsite work opportunity in support of BWXT’s Nuclear Fuel Services Group located in Erwin, TN.
As an HR Business Partner, you will:
Lead from the Middle: Collaborate and work closely with managers to provide day to day HR guidance. Understand their needs and challenges and offer tailored solutions.
Promote Employee Development: Partner with management and employees to promote positive employee relations, enhance work relationships, foster career development, lead succession planning, boost morale, and increase productivity.
Monitor Workforce Planning: Partner with leadership and Talent Acquisition to provide full-cycle support to meet staffing plans which includes hiring manager consultation; requisition initiation; interview participation; offer creation/delivery; onboarding and presentation of new hire orientation.
Analyze Trends and Metrics: Dive into HR data to identify trends, track performance, and help the business make informed decisions. Use metrics to forecast & drive improvements.
Resolve Complex Employee Relations Issues: Tackle sensitive matters, such as conflicts, allegations, conduct concerns and disciplinary actions. Strive for fair resolutions that maintain a respectful work environment and foster positive employee relations.
Suggest New HR Strategies: Innovate! Propose fresh approaches to improve processes, decrease span, improve employee experiences, and further BWXT’s mission.
Provide HR Policy Guidance: Interpret and communicate HR policies to employees at all levels of the organization, ensuring compliance and consistency across the site.

Business Acumen: Solid progressive background in HR operations, employee management and organizational development. Passion for learning more about the business and our industry, along with understanding of finance basics.
Strategic Consulting: Ability to partner and understand customer needs, you collaborate with HR Centers of Expertise to develop and execute solutions, all while forecasting and minimizing risk.
Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues though established and new relationships, you positively influence and lead day to day HR operations from the middle. You are a trusted business partner who produces completed staff work to support and execute business objectives.
Data Judgement: Demonstrated understanding of business data and HR key performance indicators, you are comfortable and effective in performing data analysis and utilize data storytelling to support metric-driven decision-making.
Talent Management: Ability to convert HR knowledge and experiences into HR best practices, technological savviness that allows for innovative approaches to everyday problems, expertise in fostering positive employee experiences, and the ability to identify and develop key talent.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a closely related field is required.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive human resources experience including significant experience in labor relations. This experience should include at a minimum five (5) years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment directly supporting a unionized workforce.
- Ability to report to an assigned manufacturing plant. This is a 100% onsite role.
- This position supports a safety and quality driven, 24-7 manufacturing operation and requires the ability and availability to work the occasional adjusted schedule. Variations to normal work hours may include but are not limited to, support of early morning meetings, engagement with the shop floor during 2nd shift evening operations, scheduled plant initiatives, unplanned after-hours investigations and pre-planned weekend employee events.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.
Preferred Experience:
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
