Position Description
Supports the implementation of policy and assists in the coordination of human resources activities, such as employment, compensation, labor contract administration, benefits, training, and employee services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assists in the development and maintenance of a human resources system that meets management information needs; prepares activities reports for guidance of management; and represents organization at personnel related hearings and investigations.
· Partners with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and state and federal laws.
· Participates in conducting of investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
· Provides payroll processing backup support. Partners with the Payroll department to maintain the payroll systems such as ADP, Kronos, and SAP.
· Support the administration of various employee benefit programs, such as group insurance, flexible spending accounts, pension, and 401(k).
· Assist with compensation and benefits planning and administration including coordination of annual open enrollment, changes in coverage and reconciliation with benefit providers.
· Oversees Employee Record Report and Attendance Programs to ensure fairness and equality for all employees. Ensure accurate and timely processing.
· Review personnel records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness; and formulates procedures for systematic retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records.
· Initiates personnel transactions and keeps a record of hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations.
· Advises on adherence to terms of labor contract, coordinates and helps investigate union grievances. Furnishes data concerning labor practices and negotiations.
· Follows up on and reviews Disciplinary Action, while enforcing compliance of progression.
· Assists in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting employees to fill vacant positions; plans and conducts new employee orientations to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
· Manage leave and paid time off programs in the HR systems, such as vacation, bereavement, sick, FMLA and all other protected leave of absences.
· Supports the development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company.
· Assists with coordinating Company training sessions, as well as lead/ present, as necessary.
· Assists with the professional development of the Human Resources Clerk.
· Supports the oversight of all leaves of absence to ensure compliance with federal, state, local policies, interactive process, and ADA request processes.
· Assists in organizing and implementing employee relations and recognition activities.
· Complies with all environmental, health, safety, and housekeeping programs.
· Other duties as assigned.
II. Pre-Hire Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
· 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources generalist experience.
· SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) –Preferred.
· 3 – 4 years working in a union environment.
· Must exercise the highest level of confidentiality and integrity
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
· Attention to detail and analytically driven.
· Excellent computer skills.
III. Qualifications
· Safety training (including OHSAS 45001 and for applicable equipment)
· Environmental compliance training applicable to the job
· EMS (ISO 14001) awareness, including plant EMS objectives and targets, and significant environmental aspects and impacts
· Quality system (ISO 9001) familiarization
· Journey To Excellence (JTE)
