Department Summary:The mission of the California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA is to leverage public and private investment for nanoscience research at the interfaces between disciplines, translate discoveries into knowledge-driven commercial enterprises, and educate the next generation of scientists and engineers. At CNSI, engineers and oncologists create drug-delivery systems to treat cancer. Chemists, physicists, and neurologists develop nanoelectronic sensors for mapping the brain. Environmental engineers and biologists use nanobiotechnology to clean pollutants from water. Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager and the Senior Fund Manager for Operations, the Business and Finance Analyst is responsible for a variety of duties in support of the day-to-day financial operations of the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) (the Institute), which include payroll, personnel and purchasing. The Business and Finance Analyst is responsible for the full range of personnel actions for administrative and research staff as well as casual staff, including work-study students. The Business and Finance Analyst is also responsible for purchasing for the Institute's incubator program (start-up companies resident in the CNSI Building). Assignments will be dependent on the various needs of the Institute and may change at the discretion of the Managers, Executive Director, and Director of the Institute.
