SUMMARY:
The Human Resource Compliance Specialist will assist the Human Resource department by assisting in the hiring, recruitment, and interviewing staff, training, and enforcing company policies and practices, including employee discipline.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provides support to the Human Resources Director and department.
- Assists in the development of human resources-related policies and procedures.
- Assists in the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of applicants. This may include advertising, conducting background checks, HRIS maintenance, assisting with new hire orientation, employee badging, and other duties related to this process.
- Keeps abreast of human resources-related statutes, compliance, case law and other HR-related developments.
- Participates in progressive discipline process of employees.
- Provides training for elected officials, department heads and/or their designees, and employees on human resources and other issues.
- Administers County's alcohol/substance abuse program under the oversight of the HR Director.
- Assists in designing, updating and distributing human resources-related county forms.
- Conducts policy, compensation, benefits, legal, and other research as directed by HR Director, County Manager or County Attorney.
- May be required to assist County Attorney with preparation of documents and/or maintenance of confidential litigation files.
- May be required to organize and facilitate meetings or classes of various kinds as directed by HR Director.
- Provides back-up when needed for Benefits Administrator.
- May be required to maintain Workers Compensation, FMLA, Disability files/claims.
- May be required to work irregular hours, overtime or weekends, attend job-related meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
- The functions of this position are not limited to those set forth above. The Director of Human Resources will perform such functions, duties and assignments as given by a supervisor and consistent with ability, background and expertise.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in relevant field of study.
- Any combination of college education in any field and/or experience in public, human resources, business administration; labor relations; human resources training, classification, pay administration, recruitment or placement.
- Administrative and/or supervisory experience preferred.
