- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Human Resources Generalist roles.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Reporting to the HR Director of Howmet Structures Business Unit, the HR Business Partner is responsible for supporting a segment of the 800+ employee population, and interfaces with Payroll, the HRIS, and Benefits to ensure that day to day HR services are successfully provided. The incumbent communicates continually with all levels of personnel and management in the Operations and Maintenance departments, as well as with union representatives, the union bargaining committee, the Director of Operations, and the internal legal team.
This incumbent will be part of a collaborative team that works together to overcome daily challenges through teamwork and partnership.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Advising, counseling, and supporting Operations personnel in the interpretation of and adherence to Corporate and Cleveland Operations human resources initiatives, policies, and procedures. This includes ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations, as well as the collectively bargained agreements between the Company and unions.
- Leading employee relations investigations and partnering with legal counsel as needed. This includes providing recommendations for issue resolution and overseeing action plans where appropriate.
- Gathering pertinent information related to employee leaves and partnering with the Company's third party attendance tracking service, FMLA administration vendor, and disability leave administration vendor to ensure that all parties are appropriately involved in the management of leaves and returns to work.
- Participating in grievance hearings, as well as contract negotiation preparation and discussion.
- Supporting aspects of recruitment and retention activities for hourly employees.
- Guiding Production Supervisors and Maintenance Supervisors through the first step of the grievance process, which consists of a preliminary investigation of the grieved issue and determine of the Company's initial response to the issue. Assisting the Labor Relations Manager in the second, third, and fourth steps of the grievance process. This includes acting as the Company's advocate throughout the grievance process, when necessary.
