Job Summary:
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented HR Benefits Specialist to join our Human Resources team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing support to employees regarding their benefits options. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of benefits plans, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and manage employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), and other employee wellness initiatives.
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and inquiries, ensuring clear communication of available benefits options.
- Process benefits-related documentation, including enrollments, terminations, and qualifying life events.
- Coordinate open enrollment periods and communicate benefit plan changes to employees.
- Work closely with insurance providers and vendors to ensure accurate benefit data and timely issue resolution.
- Maintain employee benefits records and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Provide training and support to employees on benefits-related topics, such as plan details and eligibility.
- Assist in benefits audits and assist with the preparation of reports related to benefits costs and utilization.
- Stay up-to-date with benefits trends, government regulations, and healthcare reform changes that impact company benefits programs.
- Support HR team members with other HR-related duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 2+ years of experience in benefits administration or HR support, preferably in a corporate or healthcare setting.
- In-depth knowledge of benefits programs, eligibility requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations (e.g., ACA, FMLA, COBRA).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Employee Benefits or Human Resources (e.g., CEBS, SHRM-CP).
- Experience with benefits platforms and software (e.g., ADP, Workday).
