HR Assistant
General Summary:
Provides administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources and the Student and Volunteer Services department, including maintaining personnel files, entering data into HRIS system and assisting with the various programs and employee events provided by Human Resources.
Essential Job Functions:
Receives walk-in traffic and directs them to the appropriate individual. Provides routine information for employees and callers regarding HR Department policies/procedures.
Supports hiring process by completing criminal background checks, licensure verifications, OIG checks, and National Sex Offender checks.
Schedules pre-employment drug screens and physicals for new hires as necessary.
Assists with onboarding of new hires via use of Position Manager and also post-physical orientation in HR.
Manages Fitness Reimbursement program.
Assists with data entry and data auditing with HRIS systems.
Assists HR Specialist as needed with reconciling invoices or other benefits related tasks.
Manages job descriptions and updates as necessary.
Prepares correspondence and associated clerical tasks as routinely assigned, including but not limited to, putting together orientation folders, benefit packets, updating Value Gram and New Hire Orientation photos, service recognitions, etc.
Maintains personnel files and office supplies.
Assists in hospital event planning as needed; such as Holiday Party, Healthcare Week activities, and other seasonal celebrations.
Receives and sorts incoming mail; delivers outgoing mail.
Keeps HR suite neat and tidy.
Complies with hospital and departmental policies, procedures, regulations and standards as related to job.
Demonstrates hospital’s stated mission and values with co-workers, patients, families and visitors.
Actively and appropriately participates in problem-solving identification and resolution, both intra- and inter-departmentally.
Meets department customer service standards and strives to enhance the level of customer service provided.
Completes other assignments and duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education
Required: Minimum HS grad
Preferred: Associate’s degree in Human Resources or related field
Work Experience
Required: One to Three years’ experience in an administrative position
Preferred: Previous human resources experience and/or experience working in a hospital environment.

Required: Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work.
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, communication skills, detailed oriented and a high level of confidentiality.

Ability to utilize various types of office equipment.
Ability to convey a positive and professional image.
