JOB DESCRIPTION: Housekeeping Supervisor / Inspector
POSITION SUMMARY
The Housekeeping Supervisor/Inspector is responsible for insuring the cleanliness of hotel guest accommodations and public areas according to the standards established by the hotel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties:
- Manages room cleaning operations to insure methods meet company and brand standards and keeps room cleaning deficiencies to a minimum.
- Inspects assigned units each day, insuring that all standards are met and corrective action is taken by attendants as required. Inspect all VIP rooms daily.
- Insures all standards of operation are operating effectively such as linen & inventory control procedures, rotation of mattresses, key control procedures, safety and security procedures, storeroom organization and cart stocking, lost and found.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Projects a professional image of the hotel.
- Responds promptly and follows through on guest requests in effective and friendly manner to exceed guest expectations for service.
- Personally inspects rooms and public areas.
- Oversees an ongoing general cleaning program with documented records for each unit.
- Successfully completes daily housekeeping reports in timely manner.
- Insures all housekeeping and laundry equipment is maintained in working order through communication with the Executive Housekeeper and follow-up with the maintenance department, etc.
- Monitors labor for the day, insuring productivity standards remain on track.
- Maintains linen and supply costs within annual budget.
- Monitors and controls inventories and conducts accurate linen and supply inventory.
- Insures key control procedures are followed.
- Knows and teaches safety prevention rules and techniques including fire safety to minimize workers compensation claims and company liability.
- Works with all departments on a regular basis to solve interdepartmental hotel operations problems, to promote excellent guest service and to promote programs.

- Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with guests and coworkers and including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.

- Complies with all safety policies, practices and procedures and reports all unsafe activities to supervisor.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve hotel and company goals.
- Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position directly oversees and supervises all positions of the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Oversees the day-to-day operations of all front desk associates. Assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, directing efforts and providing technical guidance on complex issues. Training and development of subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies with limited or no guidance.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be able to read and interpret simple and complex documents, reports, manuals and correspondence. Must be able to write simple and complex documents, reports, and correspondence. Must be able to speak effectively with clear speech to individuals and groups.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Computer Skills:
Has advanced basic computer job skills including logging on to systems, ability to communicate by email, ability to compose documents, enter database information, create presentations, download forms, and preserve/backup important data.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
