The Housekeeper /Laundry Aide is responsible for working in accordance with policies and procedures that are established to maintain a clean environment for the facility.
Job responsibilties include:
- Performs major and minor housekeeping duties including cleaning hallways, common areas, apartments, rooms and bathrooms.
- Follows cleaning schedules (daily, weekly and monthly) as outlined for the Housekeeping Department.
- Follows established housekeeping procedures to clean assigned areas, furnishings and fixtures.
- Responds to need for extraordinary attention to emergency housekeeping tasks where and when emergencies occur.
- Collects, cleans and redistributes Westerwood laundry according to state and federal regulations.
- Ensures that all Rehabilitation Center laundry is properly sorted, washed and dried according to state and federal regulations.
- Ensures that the laundry is maintained in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition.
- Maintains all equipment and supplies in proper condition.
- Maintains equipment and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Recommends to the supervisor, equipment and supply needs of the department including comments regarding the condition and operation of equipment.
- Empties, cleans and relines wastebaskets.
- Accomplishes all tasks in order of priority.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
- Previous experience in commercial housekeeping or laundry preferred, but not required.
- A wide variety of duties and responsibilities involving general knowledge of sanitation critical to the safety and welfare of the community. Ability to make quick decisions regarding cleanliness and infection control important.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills required, as there is frequent contact with residents, guests and employees.
- Must be capable of walking long distances and have the ability to handle laundry weighing 50 - 125 pounds loading and unloading machines.
