ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Hourly Retail Manager is also commonly referred to within the Retail industry as a "Key Holder." The Hourly Retail Manager supports and assists the Retail Manager in accomplishing store goals and conducting daily business. The position can be either Full Time or Part Time depending upon the store needs. The Hourly Retail Manager reports directly to the Retail Manager. The success of the store is impacted by the Retail Manager's performance in the following key areas:

The success of the store is impacted by the Retail Manager's performance in the following key areas:
- Brand Ambassador – The Hourly Retail Manager is first and foremost an Ambassador of the Paula Deen brand and should fulfill his/her duties with a consistently positive attitude which conveys the essence of Southern Hospitality to our guests at all times.
- Store Systems & Processes – The Hourly Retail Manager strives to understand and utilize all existing store systems, including those associated with POS activity, receiving/processing incoming merchandise, visual display, in-store tracking of sales & inventory data, and digital communications. Works with the Retail Manager to develop and implement systemic improvements. Assists in the training and oversight of Hourly Sales Associates in these systems and processes.
- Daily Operations – The Hourly Retail Manager will open/close the store as scheduled, using the Store Opening Checklist and Store Closing Checklist as a guide. Fills out established daily reports. Makes daily bank deposits. Retrieves product for restock from stockroom and directs Hourly Sales Associates in restocking activities. Performs and delegates housekeeping tasks. Provides excellent guest service to drive sales and build transactions. Forwards reports to appropriate parties as instructed by Retail Manager in compliance with established processes and best practices. Answers the telephone in an energetic, friendly manner using the approved phone greeting.
- Fiscal Stewardship – The Hourly Retail Manager should exhibit a sense of personal ownership toward the business which aids the store in establishing a pattern of profitability. Helps to control store-level expenses for office and cleaning supplies, direct services, local marketing, etc. Remains cognizant of financial goals and the store's progress toward those goals at all times.
- Physical Inventory – The Hourly Retail Manager assists the Retail Manager in maintaining accuracy in the store's physical inventory. Assists in the conduct of cycle counts and annual physical inventory counts. Provides input to the Retail Manager relative to desired new product, guest requests, and merchandise opportunities specific to the local market. Accurately processes incoming stock. Follows visual display standards to attractively present merchandise to our guests and to spur sales. Maintains proper rotation of perishable products by using "First In First Out" trac king protocols. Provides oversight to the Hourly Retail Associates in processing and merchandising incoming stock.
- Selling – The Hourly Retail Manager is an important driving force for sales at the POS and on the sales floor. Greets every guest entering the store in a friendly manner. Follows up with browsing guests to probe for interests and needs. Suggests merchandise based upon observation and guest feedback. Suggests add-on items at the register to build the transaction. Constantly straightens and restocks shelves, tables and displays on sales floor to promote guest convenience in locating desired products for purchase. Contributes toward store productivity goals of 3.00 units and $25.00 per transaction. Provides input and coaching to Hourly Sales Associates in developing selling skills.
- Training – The Hourly Retail Manager assists the Retail Manager in the training of new hires and the ongoing training and development of Hourly Sales Associates. Utilizes resources provided by Paula Deen Retail, including the Paula Deen Retail Training Synopsis, to provide consistent training information to all team members relative to the expectations and activities of their positions. Reviews performance on an ongoing basis and coaches team members accordingly. Shares new product knowledge, best practices, process improvements, information on upcoming events and local marketing opportunities, corporate and Paula Deen brand news, etc., as it becomes available.
- Able to be punctual and maintain regular attendance.
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to sit or stand for up to 12 hours.
- Able to operate a two-way radio.
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Able to bend, twist, push, pull, stoop and reach.
- Able to maintain personal hygiene standards.
- Able to tolerate a fast paced work environment.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
- Two years Management or Supervisory experience. Retail experience preferred.
- Knowledge of point-of-sales systems and cash handling techniques required.
