Responsibilities and Duties
The Director of Housekeeping is a key individual in achieving the goals and quality standards of the housekeeping department. The Director of Housekeeping must impact all elements of the department from standards of cleanliness and associate morale to budgetary goals and interdepartmental relations.
- Having a working knowledge of all housekeeping cleaning equipment and preventive maintenance programs for such machines. Responsible for training all associates on proper usage and handling of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Regularly scheduled productive and interesting monthly departmental meetings and weekly meetings with the General Manager.
- Preparation, approval by General Manager and posting of weekly schedule in a timely manner. Control overtime through proper scheduling based on room counts and respond to any problems.
- Daily walk around, documented inspections of guest rooms and public areas which are forwarded to the General Manager.
- Develop and implement an incentive program to acknowledge a positive guest satisfaction survey and to recognize specific associates mentioned on comment forms.
- Responsible for all linens, blankets, and room supplies; equipment, vacuums, washing machines, dryers, etc.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Any combination of education, training, and/or experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform.
- High school graduate preferred.
- Previous hotel-related experience desired.
