JOB TITLE: Histology Aide

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
GRADE: 901
REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Histology Department
HOURS: Monday - Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm
POSITION SUMMARY
The Histology Aide works to complete case assembly of H&E slides sent via courier to surrounding doctors and locations. Helps change out processors, maintain logs, keeps track of slides going out, and file blocks/slides.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Compile all paperwork for daily casework.

Scans slides to proper locations.

Answering e-mails.

Change processors and maintain logs.
-
Practice’s safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.

Communicates irregularities and errors to Pathologist Assistant, transcriptionists, Supervisor, Pathologists, and Histology department as indicated.

File blocks/slides when available.
-
Prepare embedded blocks for microtomy.
-
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education/Certification:

High school graduate or GED is required.

1 year of relevant laboratory experience preferred.

Computer skills

Organized, Accurate, and Dependable.
TRAVEL AND HOURS

This position is full-time, Monday through Friday.
