Highway Maintenance Worker - Medium Equipment Operator (61036835) - State of South Carolina

Operates medium equipment such as tandem dump truck in the hauling of various materials such as pipe, asphalt, dirt, sand and coquina which is used in the maintenance of state highways and right-of-ways.  Operates medium equipment such as a skid steer, belt loaders, and combination tractors.  Assists with the placement of traffic control devices to properly set up a maintenance work zone.  Serves as a flagger to safely direct and control traffic in maintenance work zones.  Repair pothole patching in a 2-3 men crew repairing the roads and shoulders through-out the county. Trains to operate the backhoe in cleaning ditches and installing drain pipes in the driveways while working with the Andrews Crew. Assists with emergency and inclement weather operations, may include extended hours and/or 12 hour shifts.
