High Voltage Electrician Journeyman-Lead

This position involves performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex electrical and instrumentation systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in high-stakes environments requiring strict adherence to safety protocols.

At the master level, candidates will possess all Journeyman-Lead skills and experience and demonstrate mastery in all areas of the role. This level typically includes providing supervision for specific crews with minimal or no supervision and handling advanced, complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Repair and Testing:
Prepare electrical equipment for repair or replacement, initiate system startups following repairs, and test performance in collaboration with other teams. - Inventory Management:
Withdraw materials from stockroom inventory, ensure accurate records, and order necessary components and materials from vendors. - High-Voltage System Maintenance:
Perform switching and maintenance on substations, switchyards, pad-mounted equipment, and underground vaults. - Installation:
Install conduits, wiring systems, cables, pull boxes, transformers, and other high-voltage system components. - Component Repair:
Dismantle, troubleshoot, and repair primary electrical equipment such as transformers, converters, regulators, cables, switches, and circuit breakers. Replace defective parts, including sectionalizing box pot-heads, links, and blown fuses. - Technical Testing and Computation:
Operate measuring and testing instruments to calculate load requirements and ensure the functionality of wiring and electrical equipment. - Power Plant Maintenance:
Maintain power plant equipment, including pumps, compressors, boilers, and turbines. - Blueprints and Schematic Review:
Utilize blueprints, diagrams, and repair manuals to conduct inspections, write reports, and provide leadership with regular equipment status updates. - Preventative Maintenance:
Perform scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems, gears, and lighting systems per operating procedures and warranties. - Emergency Repairs:
Respond to emergency call-ins for outages and ensure proper operation of backup generators for emergency tie-ins. - Customer Collaboration:
Interface with customers, ensure proper accountability of parts and time, and deliver timely and cost-effective solutions. - Safety:
Follow all precautionary methods and safety protocols when working near energized equipment and components. - Supervision and Reporting:
Assist in supervising crews, reviewing plans and schematics, and maintaining accurate reports of maintenance activities.

Qualifications:
- Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Experience:
7 9 years of related experience in high-voltage electrical systems, installation, and maintenance. - Licensure:
Master license/certificate or equivalent is required. - Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical equipment manuals, mechanical/electrical drawings, engineering standards, and applicable regulatory codes.
- Skilled in operating small to medium machinery, such as boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, and skid steers.
- Expertise in installing wire systems and rigid conduits.
- Proficient in changing out and repairing AC/DC electric motors, relays, solenoids, and terminal strips.
- Knowledgeable about backup generators and emergency tie-ins.
- Ability to handle emergency outages efficiently.
- Skilled in testing equipment such as transformer turns ratio testers, DLRO (Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter), hi-pot testers, breaker testing equipment, and relay test instruments.
