We are seeking a High Voltage Electrician to support the Office of Research Facilities (ORF) with the Department of Health and Human Services at the National Institutes of Health, (NIH) in Bethesda, MD.

So, what will the High Voltage Electrician at Terrestris do?
As the High Voltage Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of high voltage electrical systems, which typically involve voltages of 1,000 volts or more.
What does a typical day look like for the High Voltage Electrician?
You will:
- Dismantle, repair, and assemble asynchronous and induction motors, motor generators, protective relays, and high voltage circuit breakers.
- Pull in conductor, assemble bus bars, phase out and connects conductors.
- Perform emergency cut-outs and substitutions and power lines and equipment, sometimes working on distribution systems when they are energized.
- Repair electrical auxiliary equipment in the boiler and refrigeration plants.
- Install, repair, and maintain complex electric power generating and distributing equipment, trues commutators, and slip rings of rotary equipment.
- Perform routine and advanced test procedures to enable testing of all devices and equipment on the system.
What qualifications do you look for?
You might be the professional we're looking for if you have:
- The ability to do the work without more than normal supervision.
- Knowledge of electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of theory and instruments (Electrical, Electronic) used in shop and trades practices.
- Knowledge of technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic.)
- The ability to use electrical drawings.
- The ability to use and maintain hand tools (Electrical Work).
- Electrical troubleshooting experience.
