About the Job
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible in assisting in the organization and direction of the Van Buren Choral program
- Oversee the instruction of all choir classes
- Ensure characteristic vocal production, breathing, sight reading, hand signs, and posture
- Assist in coordinating all performances and assessments
- Assist in managing inventory (music and equipment)
- Assist in coordinating recruiting and the voicing identification process
- Coordinate communications and publicity
- Ensure compliance with all district and state requirements
- Engage, plan, and team with middle school and high school choral directors to align programs
- Assist the middle school and high school programs
- Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans based on district approved curriculum
- Provide individualized and small group instruction as needed to create a personalized learning experience for each student
- Maintains a safe, organized classroom through effective classroom management
- Establishes and maintains appropriate relationships with students, parents, community members and staff
- Communicates regularly with parents regarding their child’s academic and behavioral progress
- Collaborates with all instructional staff and other school personnel
- Evaluates students’ academic growth by administering developmentally appropriate assessments, maintaining accurate records and preparing progress reports
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth by participating in professional development and other meetings as needed in accordance with District and Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) guidelines
- Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates behavior that is conscientious and responsible
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid AR teaching license
- Clean background check
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of relevant technology
Physical requirements*
- Be able to stand for the majority of the school day in order to effectively monitor and supervise students
- Be able to walk short distances to supervise students between classrooms and activities
- Be able to sit, stand, lean, reach, bend, lift and squat to assist students as needed
- Be able to walk on uneven surfaces (playground)
- Be able to walk up and down stairs
- Be outside in all weather conditions for assigned duty (recess, before school drop offs, after school pick- ups and field trips)
