ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE COMPANION CAREGIVER / HOMEMAKER

• Adheres to agencypolicies and procedures.
• Performsworkunderthesupervision of theStaffingCoordinator/OperationsManager
•  PerformshomemakingactivitiescontainedintheClientHomeRecord, which may include butarenotlimitedtovacuuming, dusting, sweepingormoppingfloors, doingdishes,changingbed linens,laundry, and cleaningbathrooms. However during each work shift, the Homemaker/Companion must spend less than 20% of his or her time on general household work.
• Preparesmeals andsnacks forclient accordingto client/familyand supervisor’sinstructions.
• Mayperform groceryshopping, ifprearranged withtheoffice.
• Providescompanionshipfor the clientincludingaccompanyingclienton walks, trips tosocial/recreational activities, assistancewith hobbies, etc.
• Thehomemaker isresponsibleforwritten documentation ofserviceprovided.
• Thehomemaker shouldnotcontactthephysician directly, butrather referallquestionsorreportstothesupervisor.

TheHomemaker/Companion caregiver willNOTperformanyof the following:

• Personalcare services suchasbathing, dressing, andshaving
• Anyheavyliftingortransferringof clients.
• Administeringofanymedications,ointments, eyedrops, etc.
• Heavydutyhousehold chores such aswashingwalls,waxingfloors, washingwindows, etc.
• Household repairsormaintenance
• Cut thefingernailsortoenailsofanyclient
