Observes and assists higher classified employees involved in testing and analyzing conditions of overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems and equipment.
Primary Duties:- Performs the less involved routine manual assignments, in conjunction with assisting higher classified employees in the performance of their assigned duties. observes all operations of higher classified employees.
- Secure, assembles, places in position, and distributes test apparatus, tools, and other equipment in higher classified employees, as needed.
- Sets up barricades, safety cones, performs related general housekeeping functions necessary to maintain safe work areas. Performs other directed assignments as required.
- Drives Company vehicles and equipment and operates Company radio equipment as directed.
- Ability to identify various test instruments, use hand tools, and connect test instruments as directed by higher rated employees.
- Assembles, carries, places in position, connects, takes readings, and install test instruments as directed.
- Enters manholes to identify distribution equipment, pole type regulators, transformers, ACR and controls.
- Assists higher classified testers in the installation, test, and maintenance of transfers, protectors, relays and associated equipment, pole type regulators, transformers, ACR and controls.
- Assist in performing dielectric test on oil samples from distribution type equipment.
- Prepares and positions new and off-line distribution equipment for testing in the Shops. Scrapes, cleans, removes oil from offline equipment to be junked and applies appropriate labels, as directed.
- When requested, carry, and respond to pagers, including as part of emergency call-ins.
- Posses basic knowledge of Company's electrical systems and associated electrical apparatus.
- Ability to comprehend and follow verbal or written instructions.
- Possess knowledge of, and the ability to use various test equipment, instruments, hand tools and equipment.
- Possess working knowledge of Company safety regulations, applicable to work performed and general First-Aid/CPR methods.
- Possess valid jurisdictional driver's license, as well as being qualified to operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle.
- Obtains Class B CDL learner's permit.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Hourly wage will vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: USD $25.27/Hr. - USD $25.27/Hr.
