We are looking for a Project Manager (Heavy Highway – Roadway/Bridge projects) for the Tidewater, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Newport News, Virginia Beach area.
As a Project Manager for their Heavy Highway – Roadway/Bridge projects, you will:
- Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of heavy highway/bridge construction projects.
- Ensures that project goals are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
- Manage Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Foremen who supervise construction employees; be charged with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review the project proposals or plans to determine the timeframe, funding limitations, project procedures, staffing requirements, and available resources for various phases of the project.
- Establishes work plans and staffing for each phase of the project - arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
- Confer with project staff to outline the work plan, and assign duties/responsibilities and authority.
- Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure work progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget.
- Review status reports from project personnel and modify schedules/plans as needed.
- Prepare project reports for management, clients, or others.
- Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
- Coordinate project activities with activities of governmental agencies and subcontractors.
- Understand and be able to analyze and execute CPM-based project schedules.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervisory responsibilities, in accordance with policies and applicable laws, including interviewing/hiring; training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding/disciplining; addressing complaints/resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- 10+ years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
