POSITION: MECHANIC
We are looking for a skilled Mechanic to join our team, contributing directly to the success of our field operations by ensuring our heavy equipment and vehicles are always in top working condition.
Job Focus:
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform regular maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on all company vehicles and equipment to ensure proper performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using appropriate tools and technology.
- Conduct preventive maintenance services, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid level checks, to prevent equipment breakdowns.
- Repair and replace worn or defective components, including hoses, belts, pumps, and other mechanical systems.
Field Operations Support
- Travel to job sites to perform on-site equipment repairs and maintenance, often under challenging conditions.
- Verify that fueling, greasing, and lubrication tasks are completed properly and on schedule by job site personnel.
- Conduct post-repair inspections to ensure equipment is safe, operational, and compliant with manufacturer specifications.
- Provide emergency repair services as needed to minimize downtime.
Compliance and Reporting
- Use software to report equipment repairs, inspections, safety observations, and usage data.
- Complete Work Orders and document all maintenance and repairs, including time, parts used, and service details, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and report misuse or abuse of company assets to management.
Shop Maintenance
- Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment and vehicles in the shop when not assigned to field duties.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to OSHA and company safety standards.
Additional Responsibilities
- Respond to phone calls and emails promptly and professionally.
- Stay updated on new techniques, technologies, and industry best practices.
- Wear and enforce appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including on job sites.
- Train and mentor junior mechanics or apprentices as needed.
- Perform other duties and special assignments as directed by management.
Required Tools:
The Mechanic must provide their own tools, including but not limited to:
- Sockets (up to ¾" drive), wrenches (standard and metric), crescent wrenches, and pipe wrenches.
- Pneumatic tools (impact guns, air drill, chisel, die grinder).
- Diagnostic tools (volt/ohm meter, battery load tester).
- Various pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, chisels, and extractors.
Note: COMANCO provides consumables, standard PPE, and specialized tools when required.
Qualifications:
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and equipment diagnostics.
- Experience with heavy equipment brands such as CAT, and John Deere.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic software and tools for heavy equipment troubleshooting.
Experience and Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in heavy equipment maintenance preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in construction or heavy equipment industries.
