About the Job
Idaho Forest Group is currently seeking a Mechanic to join our Baker Truck Service team in Athol, ID.
This position will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, troubleshooting and monitoring of all truck stock in a clean, safe and efficient manner.
Essential Functions:
- Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
- Comprehend and comply with Job Safety Analysis
- Service and maintain all trucks in accordance with DOT standards; ability to operate all types of trucks
- Must be able to repack cylinders; weld as needed
- Use the parts and service manuals for repairs needed; identify and order parts
- Must be capable of learning troubleshooting techniques on new equipment
- Must be willing to attend outside training courses
- Repair and service hydraulic, air, brake, drive train and engines, fuel, electrical transmission, and cooling systems
- Continually work on preventative maintenance within the guidelines of the Dynastar Maintenance System
- Use schematics as needed
- Work closely with supervisors and truck drivers
- Use of MSDS when needed
- Keep shop and tools organized – cleanup during any down time
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One-year mechanical training in vocational/technical school or equivalent work experience in heavy duty mechanic field
- One-year heavy equipment repair experience and hydraulic components repair
- One-year semi-truck and trailer repair
- Valid driver’s license
- Must possess mechanics tools; wrenches up to 2”; ¼, ½ and ¾ drive socket set up to 2”; electrical testing equipment and other small hand tools to perform tasks
- Ability to read schematics
- Certifications in welding
- Basic computer skills desirable
- Ability to adjust work schedule, perform shift work, work overtime as needed
Desired Qualifications:
- Cummins Diesel Technician certificate
- Air-brake certification

Physical Requirements:
Move safely, quickly, and perform duties with repetitious movement. Sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs. Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
