About the Job
Thompson First Group is currently seeking a qualified Heavy Diesel Technician for a local client in Frankford, DE. A successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment, including industrial machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of diesel engine repair. Experience working with Caterpillar, Komatsu, and Tigercat equipment is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Use diagnostic computers on Mack, Volvo, International trucks as well as automotive vehicles to identify and diagnose mechanical issues.
- Welding and repairs.
- Hydraulics trouble shooting.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical systems and components.
- Collaborate with other technicians and mechanics to ensure efficient and effective maintenance and repair operations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs, including documentation of work completed and parts used.
- Stay up to date with the latest OEM guidelines and best practices for heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with heavy equipment in a timely and efficient manner.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures and safety regulations as well as use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
- Safe use of power and handheld tools expectations in product quality, customer service, and market growth.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or service technician.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine repair.
- Familiarity with equipment and OEM guidelines.
- Experience with automotive diagnostics and repair.
- Ability to transmit complex technical information to others.
- Physical stamina to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and tools.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or degree in a related field is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and safe environment in order to meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills
