Title: Estimator - Civil Construction (Earthwork, Utilities, Concrete, Paving)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team, specializing in civil construction projects involving earthwork, underground utilities, and concrete work. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in estimating similar types of work, including roadway construction. Preference will be given to candidates with proficiency in HCSS software.
Responsibilities:

Quantity Takeoff and Cost Estimation:
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from construction plans and specifications for earthwork, utilities, and concrete components.
- Estimate labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs based on project requirements and historical data.

Cost Analysis and Pricing:
- Analyze project scope, specifications, and contractual requirements to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
- Evaluate subcontractor bids and quotes, negotiating pricing and terms to ensure competitiveness and profitability.

Bid Preparation:
- Prepare detailed bid proposals, including scope of work, cost breakdowns, and project schedules.
- Coordinate with project management and business development teams to submit timely and competitive bids.

Data Management and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of bid documents, subcontractor quotes, and historical cost data.
- Utilize estimating software and databases, such as HCSS, to organize and manage project information effectively.

Market Research and Analysis:
- Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and labor rates affecting civil construction projects.
- Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and potential clients.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in estimating civil construction projects, including roadway, paving, earthwork, utilities, and concrete.
- Proficiency in HCSS software for estimating and bidding (preferred).
- Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Team player with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
