Job Title: Heavy Civil Construction Estimator

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and expertise in estimating various aspects of heavy civil construction projects, including excavation, earthworks/grading, underground wet utilities, and site concrete. Responsibilities:

Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including excavation, earthworks/grading, underground wet utilities, and site concrete.

Scope Analysis: Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine project scope, requirements, and constraints.

Quantity Takeoffs: Perform quantity takeoffs and material pricing to accurately determine project costs.

Subcontractor Management: Solicit and evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals for various scopes of work, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with project requirements.

Cost Analysis: Analyze project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs, to develop comprehensive project estimates.

Value Engineering: Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions to optimize project costs without compromising quality or schedule.

Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals in accordance with project deadlines and requirements.

Client Communication: Collaborate with clients, engineers, and project managers to clarify project requirements, address concerns, and ensure client satisfaction.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all estimates, bids, and related correspondence.

Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends, cost factors, and best practices in heavy civil construction estimation, and incorporate this knowledge into estimating processes.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).

5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimation, with a focus on excavation, earthworks/grading, underground wet utilities, and site concrete.

Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as HCSS HeavyBid, B2W Estimate, or similar.

Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and industry standards.

Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse project teams and stakeholders.

Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

Knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and safety standards relevant to heavy civil construction projects.
