ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability.
POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief seeks a Health Services Specialist to establish and coordinate health care for program participants with refugee backgrounds and assist participants in overcoming barriers to assuming responsibility for their families' health needs. This position will also assist with general resettlement activities including transportation to appointments, enrollment in benefits, connections to community resources, etc.
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until 4/30/25 and contingent upon funding extension.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and maintain relationships with local medical providers willing to provide initial health screenings and establish primary care for newly arrived refugee program participants
- Schedule and coordinate details for medical appointments for newly arrived program participants
- Collect and file after visit summaries for proof of completion of initial health screenings
- Coordinate follow-up appointments and appropriate referrals for newly arrived program participants Implement a transition process for program participants to begin assuming responsibility for the scheduling and coordination of their own appointments
- Develop and provide health education classes or individual educational outreach, including administering pre- and post-assessments to evaluate effectiveness of sessions
- Provide transportation to program participants for medical, benefit enrollment, and other essential appointments
- Conduct program participant home visits to assess well-being and immediate needs
- Assist program participants in troubleshooting health insurance issues by connecting them with State benefit workers, submitting necessary documentation to process their applications, and ensuring insurance is active prior to initial health screening
- Assist in other resettlement activities, as needed, including but not limited to: preparing homes for new arrivals, grocery shopping with program participants, coordinating non-medical appointments, providing cultural orientation
- Maintain confidential documentation, case notes, and client data utilizing appropriate World Relief and grant program databases
- Complete grant program reports documenting participant progress and challenges
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
- Current driver's license, and ability to maintain a clean driving record
- Regular access to personal vehicle
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working cross-culturally and have some working knowledge of refugee health-related topics, preferred
- Experience navigating complex healthcare systems and advocating on behalf of vulnerable populations needing access to healthcare, preferred
- Some prior knowledge of Medicaid, BadgerCare, and HMOs, preferred
- Fluent in Arabic, Dari, Kinyarwanda, Spanish, Swahili, or Ukrainian, preferred
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
