Job Description:

Summary: The Health Services Specialist primarily conducts new hire post-offer physicals and provides secondary triage and medical care to client employees. This role entails effectively communicating with various departments, maintaining employee health records, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct new hire post-offer physicals for candidates.
- Communicate and update all members of the health services department on candidate status.
- Provide triage, first aid treatment, and direct appropriate medical care for work-related injuries.
- Complete First Reports of Injury accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining employee work comp records.
- Communicate with safety department, health services specialists, and operation management regarding open claims and injured employee status.
- Act as a liaison between health professionals, work comp adjusters, and management regarding injured employee status.
- Maintain confidentiality of all medical data in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Adhere to and support all company values and Codes of Conduct.
Qualification Requirements:
- Knowledge of urinalysis testing, new hire physical testing, emergency treatment, and triage.
- Certification as an emergency medical technician or equivalent.
- Current certification to practice in the state of Iowa.
- Minimum of 2 years of directly related work experience in new hire testing.
- Current basic life support card.
- Certifications in BAT and DOT specimen collection.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, employees, and management personnel.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English.
- Effective communication with injured workers, medical providers, and management personnel.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in computer usage and standard industry programs.
- Ability to work well with others to achieve company goals.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to move about the facility and perform various physical tasks.
- Capability to lift and move objects of varying weights.
- Specific vision abilities required for close work and focus adjustment.
Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to varying environmental conditions, including cold/hot temperatures.
- Occasional exposure to airborne particles and vibration.
- Normal office noise level.
- Climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations.
Normal Work Schedule:
- Hours and days of work are generally as scheduled by management, typically Monday-Friday. However, schedule changes may occur as required by operational needs.
