Health Safety Environment Supervisor - Acara Solutions, An Aleron Company

Acara Solutions is seeking a Safety Supervisor join our client's team at their new manufacturing facility in Mesa, AZ.

This is a full-time, direct hire position.

Salary range is 70-90k, DOE.

This EHS Supervisor role will support the manufacturing operations. You will help establish a

Culture. The EHS team, along with the support of the entire organization, will be on the front line of environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, factory safety and risk management. Initially this position will be an individual contributor’s position supported by internal & external expertise as needed.

As operations and other needs grow this role will be expected to support a team of engineers to meet the expectations of the organization.

The EH&S Supervisor position will be the lead safety officer for the company’s operation. This will be a highly visible leadership position spanning across all levels of the organization. Independent and collaborative decision-making abilities will be needed to establish required safety programs along with developing routing safety management practices.

More specifically, in this role you will:

1. The EH&S Supervisor will lead a team in implementing programs to manage risk, improving critical KPI’s as well as meeting or exceeding regulatory requirements.
2. Provide technical expertise and management direction in multiple EH&S disciplines including, but not limited to, chemical safety, process safety, equipment safety, ergonomics, hazardous waste management and environmental permitting.
3. Work directly with the Process Development and Manufacturing teams to ensure that all safety programs, applicable safeguards and training programs are in place for existing equipment/process as well as guide new requirements. Where needed drive the development of specific safety and/or training programs.
4. This will be a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
5. This position will build and maintain ERT responsibility for the factory. As issue arises, lead investigation and drive root cause corrective action as warranted.
6. This position must be able to assess EH&S needs. In cases where internal resources are insufficient, we be able to effectively source and manage 3rd party resources to support needs.
7. This position will work with these teams to provide timely inputs to the equipment and process design reviews, installation and start-up of equipment and processes.

Preferred qualifications:

1. Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree desirable). Strong preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering or related fields such as Chemical Engineering or Environmental Science.
2. This position requires 6+ years of demonstrated EH&S leadership experience in a complex manufacturing environment with an emphasis on semiconductor, thin film solar or chemical manufacturing. Experience in leading EH&S in a fast-growing manufacturing company is highly desirable.
3. Must possess active professional certification (CSP, IH or CHMM)
4. Working knowledge of local environmental and operations regulations and demonstrated experience in interaction with these agencies.
5. Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across organizations without direct management responsibility. Prior experience in communicating complex EH&S matters to executive level staff is desirable.
6. Must have excellent capabilities in developing and delivering effective and effective EH&S message through both verbal and written methods.
7. Ability to support occasional travel both domestic and international.
