Job Summary:
The Clinical Education & Placement Team handles all processes related to experiential learning with the CU College of Nursing, including the Clinical Education Center (CEC). The CEC is an innovative clinical learning environment to prepare students for safe patient care in today's complex healthcare systems. The Clinical Education & Placement Faculty provides CU Nursing students with the most up-to-date, clinically relevant best practices in a variety of specialty areas. The CEC promotes a safe environment for student nurses to learn the foundational skills needed to care for patients, but they also learn professionalism and the role of a nurse. The Clinical Education Center is available across the CON curriculum and on the Anschutz Medical Campus as a clinical resource across professions.
The Simulation Tech position supports simulation for CON, Undergraduate, and Graduate simulation programs at AMC (Aurora) and South Denver (Lone Tree) locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Simulation Technology (60%):
+ Day-to-day set-up and breakdown of CEC and Sim.
+ Working knowledge of all simulations and CEC activities.
+ Moulage.
+ Provides care, periodic maintenance, and repairs (as appropriate) of task trainers, mannequins, and other simulation center equipment, under minimal supervision. Maintains cleanliness and order of specialized equipment and supplies.
+ Sets up the simulation room or Clinical Center in preparation for simulation scenarios; including equipment, supplies, mannequin moulage, IT, video, and automatic medication dispenser.
+ Assists faculty with resources for the course needs to be related to simulation, including but not limited to the AV system, data capture software, mannequin programming, Standardized Patient preparation, Electronic Health Records, smart boards, and medication dispensing units.
+ Provides first-line technical support for computer-based multimedia systems and their components, operation of digital cameras, and monitors.
+ Use of virtual simulation.
+ Supports College of Nursing activities by conducting inventory and restocking supplies and maintaining equipment and task trainers in good working condition.
+ Provides support to faculty and Teaching Assistants for required supplies, equipment, and basic instruction on use.
+ Pyxis management.
+ Attends meetings and contributes to committee work as appropriate and as assigned by leadership. Stays current with the developments in the field of Simulation Technology.
Simulation Facility (20%):
Simulation Suite 5th floor (AMC), CEC 4th floor (AMC) and South Denver (SD)
+ Maintain CEC and Sim physical space.
+ Space is organized, clean, and well maintained at all times – control room and clinical space.
+ Supplies are put away after use.
+ Areas cleaned.
+ Space clear of clutter.
+ Items are neatly put away.
+ Items are properly labeled.
+ JR as needed in Sim or per request of a team member.
+ Equipment disposal.
+ Cleaning requests.
Administrative (20%):
+ Admin support: maintain attendance rosters/policy, vSim use.
+ Student coordination & attendance.
+ Maintain student rosters.
+ Assists with tracking supply and equipment needs.
+ Participates in restocking and inventory.
+ Assists with clerical needs of the area, including mail pickup from Education Building 2North.
+ Make copies of materials as needed and as requested.
+ Provide tours of the laboratory and simulation space for visitors, which often consist of potential or current donors, faculty, campus administrators, and external partners.
+ CEC and Sim deliveries.
+ CPE forms – CEC and Sim.
+ Knowledge of on-campus contacts for needs.
+ Management of office supplies.
+ Linen management.

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
