New hire experience: | 1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum |
New hire education: | 1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position |

OVERVIEW:
To administer health services to students and staff according to District policies; to provide first aid, medication administration, and emergency care as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician Level 1 with current CPR card
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Moderate proficiency in typing; knowledge of computer and applications with Synergy preferred
- Ability to work well with students, staff, parents; good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality of records and communications
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, organization and prioritize the health office
- Ability to accept limitation of responsibility; ability to follow protocol when administering care
- Knowledge of immunization requirements according to Arizona State Law
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts an individualized assessment, prioritizing the needs of the immediate condition according to district emergency guidelines
- Emergency care assessment and delivery of care to all students and staff at their assigned school site(s) according to district policies and procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge of medication dosage, calculations, administration and monitoring for possible side effects per physician orders, parent consent and District guidelines
- Identify and decide medical response and monitor oversight and implementation of medical procedures and emergency care of students with Diabetes, Seizures, Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Behavioral Disorder and general mental health issues
- Initiate emergency care and resuscitative measures according to resuscitation protocols
- Frequently perform special health care treatments and procedures as delegated and demonstrated by parent for bladder catherization, oral and tracheal suctioning, blood glucose monitoring, carbohydrate counting and insulin administration and gastrostomy feedings
- Delivers care with appropriate age and cultural competence to supports and assist students with personal hygiene and activities of daily living (toileting, g-tube feeds, suctioning, dressing)
- Supervise students that are sick or injured
- Submitting the correct district or County required reporting paperwork
- Knowledge about pediatric medical conditions in the school setting for continued advocacy and communication of student needs with the community providers, parents and school personnel
- Perform and assist nurse with student health screenings of vision, height/weight, dental, pediculosis and scoliosis and referral process
- Document findings, physical/psychosocial response for student and staff treatments and parent interactions. Accurately record data regarding patient’s condition and all provided care services
- Prepare and maintain health records; maintain confidentiality
- Evaluate immunization records; verify immunization compliance, utilize State immunization program (ASIIS), advise parents of additional doses needed; track suspension dates
- Model professional, safe, responsible and respectful behavior
- Participate in sharing information with nurse, school team on the health and safety needs of the student
- Understand DCS reporting protocol and communicate with nurse in appropriate situations
- Prepare and distribute instructional materials as directed by the school nurse
- Maintain and order office supplies and equipment
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
